The National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) is pleased to announce that it has joined the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC), which operates the internationally-recognized Leaping Bunny Program in the United States and Canada.
The CCIC utilizes a single, comprehensive Standard for identifying cruelty-free cosmetics, personal care products and household products. Its Leaping Bunny Logo provides assurances to consumers that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by a company, its laboratories or its suppliers.
NAVS Executive Director Peggy Cunniff says that NAVS’ association with the CCIC is a natural extension of its decades-long dedication to providing consumers with credible information regarding cruelty-free products
“NAVS has been committed to promoting cruelty-free shopping for nearly 30 years,” she observes, “starting with the publication of our first ‘Personal Care with Principle’ pamphlet in 1985 and continuing through 13 print editions of our authoritative guide, Personal Care for People Who Care. This commitment continues today with our membership in the CCIC.”
CCIC Chair Sue Leary commented, “The Coalition is delighted to welcome NAVS as our newest member. NAVS brings a deep knowledge of the issue of product testing and an absolute commitment that is a great match with our program. We look forward to combining forces at a time when increasing numbers of consumers seek the assurance that our third-party certification brings."
The Leaping Bunny Program’s Compassionate Shopping Guide is available online at www.navs.org/cruelty-free or at www.leapingbunny.org. Consumers can also download Leaping Bunny’s free Cruelty-Free app for iOS or Android devices.
