Leaping Bunny Welcomes Wen® Hair and Body Care by Chaz Dean as Cruelty-Free

August 1, 2013
WEN® Hair and Body Care by Chaz Dean, the sales record-breaking line founded by renowned celebrity hairstylist Chaz Dean, has been approved by The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics’ (CCIC) for the organization’s Leaping Bunny Program, a distinction that recognizes companies for their cruelty-free practices. The all-natural, holistic haircare brand will now join over 500 companies that have already committed to eliminating all new animal testing from their products.

Chaz Dean, a true pioneer of the green movement, has been a longtime and dedicated advocate for engaging compassionate, cruelty-free, ethical practices to shape his brand and company operations.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the CCIC for a cause that I hold so dear to me,” stated Dean. “As a devout animal lover myself, it is my heartfelt belief that ethical testing and practices should be a cornerstone of every company’s philosophy, and I am proud to be counted among the ranks of over 500 companies in the Leaping Bunny Program who share my commitment to advocating the compassionate treatment of animals.”

The CCIC's Leaping Bunny Program administers a cruelty-free standard and the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo for companies producing cosmetic, personal care, and household products in the United States and Canada. The Leaping Bunny Program provides the best assurance that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers.

"We are very happy to add WEN® Hair and Body Care by Chaz Dean to our list of cruelty-free companies,” states CCIC Communications Manager, Kim Paschen. “By joining the Leaping Bunny Program, WEN® has taken a clear stance against animal testing. We look forward to working with Chaz and his team to get the word out about his great products and the importance of cruelty-free shopping."

Companies certified through the Leaping Bunny Program make a voluntary pledge to clear animal testing from all stages of product development. The company's ingredient suppliers make the same pledge and the result is a product guaranteed to be 100 percent free of new animal testing. All Leaping Bunny companies must be open to independent audits, and commitments are renewed on an annual basis.

Since 1996, the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics has been connecting compassionate consumers with cruelty-free companies. The CCIC is made up of the following organizations: American Anti-Vivisection Society; Animal Alliance of Canada; Beauty Without Cruelty, USA; Doris Day Animal League; Humane Society of Canada; The Humane Society of the United States; and the New England Anti-Vivisection Society. CCIC's international partner is the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments. On the web at www.LeapingBunny.org.
