Indie Beauty Expo
On January 29th and 30th, Caitlin and Kim attended Indie Beauty Expo for the fourth year in a row. We love meeting with our certified brands, especially for the first time in person! We also use this opportunity to create new connections with other companies interested in receiving our cruelty-free certification. During the event, we met with over 70 companies, including Leaping Bunny certified brands Earth Harbor Naturals, evanhealy, Grace & Stella, Little Moon Essentials, Mad Hippie, Make & Mary, Passport to Organics, rue Sante, Skin Buzz, and South Seas Skin Care. Since IBE, we’ve received lots of interest from companies we met at the show and two were certified shortly after the event—Lucky Chick and The Still Beauty.

Indie Beauty Expo Reviews
One of our favorite things about tradeshows is getting to scope out all the cruelty-free products in the flesh. Meeting our companies face-to-face, many for the first time, is such a thrill for us! And they are putting out some amazing products. Here are some of our favorites from last month’s IBE.
|
Lucky Chick
We are in love with lipstick from Lucky Chick, one of our newest certified companies. Their lipsticks are absolutely beautiful, with such vivid, rich colors. And all of the products are vegan, too! The lipstick feels amazingly moisturizing and it’s super pigmented so a little goes a long way. We love how it enhances lips with lasting color, while keeping them hydrated. Learn more about Lucky Chick at www.luckychick.com.

South Seas Skin Care
While South Seas specializes in bronzing products (stay tuned for future reviews!), we couldn’t help but dive into their Pineapple Express Body Butter IMMEDIATELY. The formula is super rich and contains 100mg of CBD to help with a myriad of skin issues. And the smell…just imagine cutting open the juiciest, ripest pineapple and inhaling its sweet aroma. Yeah, it’s like that. Read more about South Seas at www.southseasskincare.com.

ESW Beauty
We knew we’d be in for a treat after visiting ESW Beauty’s booth at IBE. All of their sheet masks are gorgeously packaged to look like raw cold-pressed juices and they do not disappoint. Take The Pink Dream sheet mask. It’s loaded with watermelon, rose water, and grapefruit plus nourishing vitamins. It feels amaaaaaazing. We can’t wait to try the others. Find out about all of them at www.eswbeauty.com.

COMPANY SPOTLIGHT: EVA NYCAfter meeting EVA NYC at CosmoProf this past summer, we have been huge fans of this amazing haircare brand. Read our interview with Lindsey Walker, Senior Brand Manager, below to learn more about EVA NYC’s most popular product, how the brand selects its fragrances, and where you can shop its products.
|
What is EVA NYC’s mission?
To give anyone and everyone a good hair day, every day.
What is your favorite EVA NYC product and why?
Tough to choose just one, so I’d say our Therapy Session Hair Mask; it’s a deep conditioning treatment that totally transforms your hair. I use it in place of a normal conditioner for the silkiest hair ever!
What is your most popular product?
Our Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer, it’s one miracle spray that has 10 benefits in one formula! It detangles, moisturizes and fights frizz and is universally obsessed over.
What has been the most rewarding part of working at EVA NYC?
It’s so rewarding that I’m constantly surrounded by inspiring, creative women who all absolutely love the brand and work so hard to make it amazing every day! I think most of our teams would also agree that it’s the greatest feeling when you get to first see a final new product in real life, after all the time that went into creating it.
We love the way your products smell! How do you select the fragrances for your products?
Eva’s signature fragrance is a blend of freesia, plum, white flowers, and a warm amber and vanilla base. We want our products to smell fun and fresh! Keep a look out this year, we have a few exciting new launches with their own signature fragrances!
Your brand is so playful and youthful. Is there a method to how you choose to portray your brand personality?
Our brand is inspired by the women who push it forward every day! We make products that we love to use (and share) and I think that genuinely comes through in all of our messaging and creative. We’re beauty lovers sharing our love of beauty with everyone else!
Why is being Leaping Bunny certified important to EVA NYC?
We always want to be kind to the planet, our animal friends and each other, and would absolutely never test on animals, being Leaping Bunny certified shows our consumer that we are committed to this promise.
Where can consumers find EVA NYC’s products?
You can find our products at Target, Ulta Beauty, and Sally Beauty, and of course our website, eva-nyc.com.
