Dear Compassionate Consumer,
Happy 2020! Leaping Bunny is so happy to continue to be your trusted source of cruelty-free companies as we enter this new decade.
The new year can be a stressful time, transitioning from the full-blown, hectic holiday season to the pressure of making and keeping resolutions. Although many people strive to commit to a workout schedule or healthier eating habits, don’t forget that any/all self-care is so important. My personal favorite self-care ritual includes a face mask, a super grainy sugar scrub for the body for extra exfoliation, followed by luxurious body butter. You can always filter our online Shopping Guide as well as our App in order to find a company that offers the type of self-care products you are looking for.
And so, with the new year, we promise to bring you all the latest and greatest in cruelty-free shopping in our monthly e-newsletter. In this issue, learn why Kim Paschen, Leaping Bunny’s Program Manager is obsessed with a room fragrance company and check out our newest weekly feature on social media you will not want to miss. We conclude with a listing of our new Leaping Bunny certified companies and an interview with another fragrance company, Olfactory NYC. And, don’t forget to check out the exclusive promos with Cosm Research, Devita, and Skinbuzz at the very end.
For the animals,
Caitlin McGrother
Leaping Bunny Program Administrator

Product Corner: Grow Fragrance
We have written about Grow before and here we are writing about them again because we are so obsessed with their natural fragrance sprays. The scents this company puts out takes olfaction to new levels. All of their sprays are 100% plant based, which means every ingredient comes from a verified bio source (no nasty chemicals or even problematic essential oils!). We wish your computer/tablet/phone screen could emit scents so you could smell for yourself. In the meantime, here are some descriptions of our favorite sprays.

COMPANY SPOTLIGHT: Olfactory NYCThis month, we are very excited to interview Joseph Vittoria, founder of Olfactory NYC. Olfactory NYC is a fragrance company that offers customizable scents, as well as a curated line of perfumes, which we have had the opportunity to test out late last year. Read below to learn more about the inspiration behind the brand, its most popular scent, and a fun fact about the company.
|
What was the inspiration behind the creation of Olfactory NYC?
I was fascinated by the art of fragrance and the intricate design in artisanal perfumery, but I found the typical retail fragrance experience was divorced from the creative process in the perfumer’s lab. We wanted to make the art that goes into clean, beautiful scents more accessible to the modern consumer.
What is Olfactory NYC’s mission?
To make the art of beautiful, clean fragrance both accessible and interactive.
What is your favorite Olfactory NYC scent and why?
Our Reed scent - an earthy, grounding blend of patchouli, sage, and rose. The great thing about it is that it can be pulled in many different directions during the customization process. Reed, like all of our other scents, is also unisex - this speaks to our core belief that fragrance shouldn’t be gendered.
Joseph Vittoria, Founder of Olfactory NYC
What is your most popular scent?
Hunter is a year-round favorite! It’s infused with vanilla, ambrette, and smooth cedarwood - a truly addicting blend.
What has been the most rewarding part of creating Olfactory NYC?
It sounds corny but by far the most rewarding part is the customers’ feedback. Knowing that we are creating new fragrance enthusiasts through our customization experience validates all the hard work.
Are all of Olfactory NYC products vegan?
Yes! Our fragrances are also phthalate- and paraben-free.
What other products does Olfactory NYC offer besides fragrance?
In addition to fragrance, we offer body wash and body lotion (in the same scents as our core fragrances) as well as candles.
Why is being Leaping Bunny certified important to Olfactory NYC?
With modern technology, there’s absolutely no reason for any animal testing to still be conducted in this day and age. Fragrance belongs on humans, not rabbits!
We want to show our customers that we stand by humane, ethical production methods while offering them a high-quality product that they can feel good about buying. We’ve also got a few vegans and vegetarians on our team!
What is something unique about Olfactory NYC that others may not know?
All of our fragrances are bottled fresh at our studio. Not only does this minimize the carbon footprint of our production process, but it also shows our customers that they are getting a fresh product - not one that has been sitting on a shelf for months.
Where can consumers find Olfactory NYC’s products?
Come create your custom scent at our studio in Nolita, Manhattan, or check us out online at Olfactorynyc.com. Our core scents are also available at select partner retailers.
