This tub of insanely rich moisturizer will transport you right into the middle of a citrus grove. It seriously is one of the best scents I’ve ever come across. The tangy aroma is folded into ultra-soothing shea butter and babassu oil, and whipped to perfection. Unlike some intense moisturizers, this body butter absorbs nicely into the skin. Angie, the founder, named her company after her grandmother, Juanita Watts, who was her “she-ro,” and she creates her entire product line, which also includes facial care, beard care, eczema treatment, and body oil, around plant-based ingredients. Body Be Silk offers a variety of luxury skin and personal care products that help create an intense and amazingly scented self-care routine. Greta, the founder of Body Be Silk, began with her great grandmother’s beauty recipes to formulate the luscious products she offers today. As someone who is obsessed with products that smell delicious, the Kopi Jawa Coffee & Hip Thigh Treatment is literally like a dessert in the form of a body scrub. The combination of chocolate and coffee is intoxicating and I admit I sometimes open the jar just to inhale the amazing aroma. This product’s combination of ground coffee beans, cane sugar, cinnamon powder, along with its blend of plant-based oils, creates both a gentle but effective exfoliator and moisturizer. Especially during the cold, dry months, I like using this product on my hands and other areas in need of TLC to help remove dry, dead skin while infusing moisture. Body Be Silk also offers a Koffey Kona Bum Butta to use after the Kopi Jawa Coffee Hip & Thigh Treatment, which sounds just as amazing as it is made with coffee beans infused with coffee oil and shea butter. As a vegan myself for over 15 years, I love the spunky name of this nail polish. I also love that it happens to be in my favorite nail color, pale pink, which I find transcends time and season, and looks wonderful all year round. Not only are Dimension Nails products vegan, but they are 10-free, as well, which means they do not contain 10 of the most common toxins often found in traditional nail lacquers. Dimension Nails polishes apply super creamy and smooth and are chip resistant, with a mani that stays put all week long. I love topping my mani with Quickie, their quick drying top coat, which makes your nails super shiny while hiding those inevitable tiny imperfections. We love this family-owned business, run by Stephanie and her father, and their playful, yet inspiring and vast array of nail polishes. SanRe Organic Skinfood
SanRe Organic Skinfood is one of our OG brands; they have been certified since 2007! Over the years, we have had the opportunity to try a wide variety of SanRe products and have never been disappointed. Please read our interview with Sandra to learn more about SanRe’s mission, its sustainable practices, and the company’s most popular products.
What was the inspiration behind the creation of SanRe Organic Skinfood?
It all started over 14 years ago. I grew up in Lithuania where our food was always fresh and our skincare products were homemade. When we moved to the States, I was at first so excited that our groceries lasted so long, but when I started digging and researching all the additives and preservatives that are often used, we quickly changed our food habits. My focus then moved to my big-brand skincare products, where I was shocked to see dozens of ingredients that were linked with cancers, hormone disruption, etc.—which you would never consider putting in your body. Your skin absorbs about 60% of what you put on it, so why not FEED it well?! Hence began our mission in 2007, to produce only the very best skinfood that would truly feed your skin and won’t hurt or poison your health and body. We stayed loyally and joyfully true to our strict standards since the inception!
What is SanRe’s mission?
We've all heard, "you are what you eat." Well, our motto is expanded to include, "you are what you absorb, apply and beautify yourself with." One doesn't refrain from eating toxins, only to place them upon their skin, which is the largest organ of the body. Hence began our mission, to produce and supply truly organic skinfood for our health and beauty. SanRe obtains all possible ingredients from USDA certified organic farmers and companies. Each product is "personally" crafted, tested, improved, finalized, and produced by us. For more than 14 years, we make each product only in small batches to ensure utmost quality and freshness, never compromising the quality of our end product.
Is there a story behind the name of your company?
YES! The story is that SanRe was lovingly created by mother-daughter team, daughter -Sandra, mother -Regina; so, the name is SanRe.
What efforts do you take to be a sustainable company?
Our packaging is glass, we use recycled paper and soy-based inks for our printing needs. Additionally, our shipping boxes are made from the recycled paper.
What is your favorite SanRe product and why?
I have so many that I absolutely love! A few to mention are the new moisturizer Amber Rose, Hemp Revival, and Eye Candy. I’m currently most excited about Amber Rose, that uses Baltic Amber. Baltic Amber is special because of my heritage, and newer science has found thatamber contains 3-8% of succinic acid, which helps curtail the aging of human cells by slowing or totally stopping the loss of of potassium ions as an antioxidant—now scientifically described as a modern elixir of youth!
What are SanRe’s most popular products?
Siesta Sunset, C-Love, and Eye Candy.
What has been the most rewarding part of creating SanRe?
Hands down-the reviews as well as emails that I get about how our products have helped women (and men) feel comfortable in their own skin, aging gracefully, and being able to eliminate foundation. Very rewarding!
Why is being Leaping Bunny certified important to SanRe?
As a vegan, plant-based family ourselves, it is important for us to be set far apart from the companies that are still doing animal tests.
What is something unique about SanRe that others may not know?
With the help of an amazing staff, our products are still made by me, Sandra, an original co-founder and formulator. We’re also unique because most of our line is USDA certified organic and non-GMO, while many companies are just claiming that they are natural and organic without backing it up. For over 11 years, we’ve been taking the extra steps to “prove” that we truly are, by having a third-party NOP USDA Organic Certification, which is the most stringent organic certification possible. By having an intense third-party certification, we avoid a lot of guessing games when it comes to our suppliers. We only purchase certified organic, cold pressed and unrefined oils, only therapeutic grade certified organic essential oils and herbs. Only the best for our wholesome skinfood and our beloved customers!
