This month, we are excited to spotlight one of the cornerstones of our Program, one that we work extremely hard on along with our certified companies: the annual recommitment to the Leaping Bunny Program. This month, learn all about exactly what that means, which of your favorite companies have recommitted, and check out some of our favorites!
2021 Recommitments
One of the things that makes the Leaping Bunny Program the gold standard for cruelty-free certification is that we require all of our companies to renew their certification each year through our recommitment process. There may be new developments for a company throughout the year including a change in where products are sold or new manufacturers and suppliers coming on board. In order to make sure we have the most up-to-date information about a company and its supply chain management, companies must complete an updated application to ensure that they remain cruelty-free and compliant with our Standard.
There is no cost to renewing! Since companies are approved all year round, the recommitment process is rolling, with newly recommitted brands being added all the time. We are excited to share the list of companies that have recommitted in 2021 thus far and it is now available on our website. If your favorite company is not on the list, don’t worry, their recommitment may not be due until later this year. We have had a great relationship for quite a few years with Blu Ink Nail Lacquer. Oprah's not the only one with a list, as we are going to tell you about one of our favorite things. The quality of Blu Ink products is top-notch and will not disappoint. The 10-free vegan polish applies evenly and looks shiny. (Sugar Pill, with its orchid tone, is in our top five color choices.) When the time comes to remove the polish, it's because the nails have grown too far past the cuticle, not because they are chipping. Speaking of removal, Blu Ink's Soy Polish Remover works very well—sans stench! Pressing gently on your nail for a couple of seconds leaves you with clean nails and smooth, hydrated cuticles. There’s nothing we don’t love from this wellness company. But, if we had to pick just a couple favorites, they would be the Whipped Body Butter and Canna Bliss balm. The body butter is a fabulous concoction of the most soothing, creamy formula I’ve ever tried. They blend shea butter with a magical combination of coconut, almond, and avocado oils into a light yet deeply moisturizing whip that absorbs quickly into the skin. And their Canna Bliss balm, blended with CBD oil and arnica, soothes aches and pains straight away. I love to put it on achy, tired legs right before bed. The lovely relaxing sensation puts me to sleep almost too quickly! -Kim
There are few occasions where I truly love every product in a skin care regime. But Fleur & Bee knocks it out of the park with all of their products. I appreciate their simple, straightforward product line, which concentrates on products that work for all skin types Plus, each product is under $30 and all products, with the exception of the Rose Water Toner, are packaged in glass containers. Using Fleur & Bee’s So Clean Facial Cleanser, followed by the Rose and Shine Toner, Nectar of the C serum, Eyes Eyes Baby eye cream, and Crème de la Cream moisturizer is a self-love ritual that leaves my skin looking and feeling so good. -Caitlin

Company Spotlight: BATCH
This month, we are excited to interview Ashley Moehlenpa, Creative Director for BATCH, the brand of Wisconsin Hemp Scientific. This brand is dedicated to providing a range of premium CBD products, including topical products, which are Leaping Bunny certified. Please read below to learn more.
What was the inspiration behind the creation of BATCH?
BATCH was founded by Griffin Lynch, Andy Gould, and Dennis Mistrioty (my bosses!) in 2018 right at the start of the CBD "gold rush." They grew up together in the Greater Milwaukee area and fostered their entrepreneurial spirit while roommates at college. After graduation, they used their combined degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business, along with their desire to make a difference in the lives of others, to create Wisconsin Hemp Scientific (our parent company and LLC). We quickly became known as an authority in the Hemp industry, especially in Wisconsin.
What is BATCH's mission?
BATCH's mission has always been staying "loyal to the soil" while getting CBD in the hands of everyone. We truly believe that being connected to the soil and plants that we cultivate is essential to cultivating a premium CBD extract! We work with local family farmers and only use non-GMO and pesticide-free hemp. We are so passionate about our process and philosophy, that we actually offer free samples to everyone.
Is there a story behind the name of your company?
The name "BATCH" comes from the actual process of making CBD in batches. It came from our attention to detail to every formula, every product, every ingredient... it ended up being our whole brand!
What efforts do you take to be a sustainable company?
This is something I personally am really excited about at BATCH. We've made so many changes to our packaging this year and have finally streamlined our shipping process. Our shipping materials are all kraft and recyclable. Our tinctures come in beautiful glass packaging inside our award-winning hemp paper B-boxes, which can all be recycled or upcycled. For the CBD, we source our hemp locally. Since our CBD oil is made and shipped from our lab, this makes us about as farm-to-table as CBD can get. Oh, and we've partnered with One Tree Planted, so we plant one tree for every purchase at BATCH.
What is your favorite BATCH topical product and why?
Personally, my favorite BATCH product is our Fire & Ice Balm! Nothing compares to this natural "icy-hot." Many of my family members use it religiously! Everyone I talk to cannot contain how much they are in love with this product. Definitely my go-to after a hard workout. Simply twist it up, rub the salve on the affected area, feel the relief! It's that simple. I would recommend it to anyone who experiences discomfort!
What is BATCH's most popular topical product?
The Fire & Ice balm! A best-seller. Smells amazing, perfect for on-the-go, and packed with all-natural ingredients. It will leave you feeling your best.
What has been the most rewarding part of being a part of BATCH?
The most rewarding part of being a part of BATCH is the testimonials. We get hundreds of DMs, emails, and reviews about how BATCH CBD has changed their life. People are so thankful to finally find a CBD product that helps them recover, sleep better, and feel better. It always brightens my day to know that I made a small, yet infinite difference in someone's life.
Why is being Leaping Bunny certified important to BATCH?
Being a Leaping Bunny-certified company ensures that people can trust our products. They know our products have been 3rd-party verified cruelty-free. We do as much as we can to remain transparent about our operations, which is why we post BATCH lab tours on our Instagram page: @batch_by_whs!
What is something unique about BATCH that others may not know?
BATCH has awesome company culture. Since we're a small group and all live within a few-mile radius, we maintain strong relationships outside of 'work.' In the lab, we're always cracking jokes and debating fun topics. I feel comfortable speaking for the group in saying that we have a great work/life balance!
